Go beyond the standard.
Canadian industry standards for blood glucose meters have an acceptable error range of 15%1 from lab readings. That means that readings on a meter can be 15% higher or lower, compared to the lab. CONTOUR® NEXT meter results go beyond the industry standards, by coming within 10% of a lab reading2. And a more accurate reading can help you make even better insulin dosing decisions3. 1 Current regulation based on Health Canada recognized ISO 15197:2013 standard requires results within ±15% range, specifically: ≥95% of results must fall within ±0.83 mmol/L for blood glucose concentrations <5.6 mmol/L and within ±15% for blood glucose concentrations ≥5.6 mmol/L. 2 CONTOUR® NEXT meter meets ±10% accuracy vs. laboratory method, specifically: 98.1% of results within ±10% for blood glucose concentrations ≥5.6 mmol/L, and 99.4% of results within ±0.56 mmol/L accuracy vs. laboratory method for blood glucose concentrations <5.6 mmol/L. 3 AADE position statement 2010.

Insulin was administered for the first time ever in January 1922
A 14-year old boy from Toronto, Canada was the first person to receive an insulin injection. Leonard Thompson quickly regained his strength and appetite after his injection which lead to further testing on other volunteers. One brave kid getting one brave shot, that helped kickstart research and advocacy for years to come. Source: https://www.nobelprize.org/educational/medicine/insulin/discovery-insulin.html

Why is accuracy important for diabetes management?
Accurate readings can help you make the right decisions when they matter most. You depend on your meter to help you make important decisions with respect to blood glucose management. For example, you might rely on your meter to: - Allow you to make more accurate insulin dosing decisions - Tell you if your blood glucose is too low (hypoglycemia), too high (hyperglycemia) or just right - Help you make decisions about your food, activity and medications
